Super Bowman takes the honours

Hugh Bowman just gets Brave Smash up to win the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley from Spirit Of Valor and Oisin Murphy. The win was a decisive factor in the destination of three TRC weekly awards - Bowman is top jockey, Australian Bloodstock are top owner, and Darren Weir is top trainer. Photo: horsebetting.com.au

James Willoughby picks out the jockey, trainer, owner and sire who made the biggest impact on the TRC Global Rankings in the week that ended on Sunday.

TRC JOCKEY OF THE WEEK

So assured on Winx in the G1 Cox Plate, HUGH BOWMAN (+4pts, #5 from #6) also delivered a great ride to win the G1 Manikato on Brave Smash (see video below), and he fired Charge home in the G3 Australia, all at Moonee Valley. His 11 G1 wins in 2018 puts him second only to Mike Smith (13).

TRC OWNER OF THE WEEK

A squeaker, but the nod goes to the concerns of AUSTRALIAN BLOODSTOCK (+5pts, #20 from #26) who landed their 15th Group winner in the window when Brave Smash won the G1 Manikato at Moonee Valley. Princess Posh sealed it with third in a G3 there.

TRC TRAINER OF THE WEEK

Our Australian #1 trainer DARREN WEIR (+1pt, stays #6) enjoyed a good weekend at Moonee Valley, winning the G1 Manikato with Brave Smash and the G2 Crystal Mile with Cliff’s Edge. He has a 15pt lead on rival Chris Waller, who struck again with Winx.

TRC SIRE OF THE WEEK

Both Deep Impact and INVINCIBLE SPIRIT (+6pts, #30 from #35) had two wins but clear edge to the latter, who struck twice at G1 level. First, Magna Grecia landed the Vertem Futurity at Doncaster for the former world #5, then Royal Meeting won the Criterium International at Chantilly.
