Quality and affordability sit side by side in Sydney selling.

Inglis was dealt a blow last month when this year’s Australian Easter Yearling Sale headliner-in-waiting, a Snitzel colt out of Winx, was withdrawn after suffering a setback.

But, as its CEO Sebastian Hutch was quick to make clear, even without the prospect of fireworks similar to those generated by the A$10m sale of a Winx filly two years ago, the Easter catalogue remains “extraordinary” and the quality of offerings “incredibly high”.

The catalogue, indeed, still includes siblings to around 30 Group 1 winners (the likes of Switzerland and Golden Sixty included), as well as yearlings out of numerous top-level scorers.

What’s more, though there’s now no Winx progeny available, there remain about 40 lots by Snitzel, including Lot 43, a filly out of the dual Group 1 winner Response, and about the same number of lots by I Am Invincible, his yearlings including Lot 15, a filly out of the VRC Oaks heroine Personal.

Zoustar, responsible for the likes of Lot 308, a full-brother to the multiple Group 1 scorer Zougotcha, is also well represented, and there are lots available by such overseas sires as Global Rankings #1 Turf Sire Frankel and #2 Dirt Sire Gun Runner.

Frankel’s yearlings on sale include Lot 271, whose second dam is The Curragh’s Pretty Polly Stakes victrix Diamondsandrubies, while Gun Runner’s three representatives, including Lot 230, out of a dual Listed-winning half-sister to the Group 2 victrix Sneaking Out, are all sent to Riverside on account of Arrowfield.

The Scone stud is by some margin the sale’s largest consignor, though notable drafts also arrive from Yulong, including Lot 318, a filly by Alabama Express out of the three-time Group 1 winner Forbidden Love, and Coolmore, whose draft includes the exciting Lot 128, a Justify filly out of the multiple Australian Group 1-winning Sunlight.

Other lots of interest include:

Lot 117, an Extreme Choice filly out of the Flight Stakes winner Speak Fondly.

Lot 138, an Anamoe colt from the family of the Tattersall’s Tiara winner Tashi.

Lot 345, an Alabama Express filly out of the multiple Group 1 winner Icebath.

Trade begins at 11am on Sunday and all yearlings purchased are eligible to be nominated for the Inglis Race Series.
