There’ll be plenty hoping to add their names to Graded winners on the graduate roll of honour.

It’s South Africa’s turn to grab some of the Southern Hemisphere yearling sale focus, with BSA hosting its first physical sale of 2026.

The Cape Yearling Sale - a single-day event - comes with a catalogue of some 140 lots, offerings set to go under the hammer at Constantia’s SARDA Centre.

Varsfontein send one of the largest consignments, with their offerings including Lot 13, a filly by Master Of My Fate out of the six-time winner Golightly, Lot 127, a colt by Gimmethegreenlight out of a half-sister to the multiple Turkish Listed winner Tenerife Song and Lot 106, a colt called Mansa Musa whose dam is an own sister to the Grade 1 winner Athina.

Wilgerbosdrift, meanwhile, are responsible for a draft of 15-odd, including the already-named Pendet (Lot 5) out of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1-placed Folk Dance.

One of the first lots to face the auctioneer is Lot 4, a colt called Fill My Heart whose half-sister Hold My Heart won the Summer Fling Stakes and was placed in a number of Grade 1 contests.

Erik The Red is one of the best represented sires, his progeny on offer including Lot 38, a half-brother to the Grade 3 winner Star Express, dam of Bless My Stars.

Lots 91 and 96, fairly near each other in the line-up, are both out of Grade 3 winners, in Tzigane and Whatalady respectively.

Buffalo Bill Cody has sired numerous lots, including Lot 63, the colt named As Good As Once who’s a half-brother to a dual Grade 2 winner.

The Cape Town suburb sale’s previous graduates include the likes of Pocket Power, Pistol Pete, Rascova and Main Defender.

Other lots of interest include:

Lot 6, the filly Ember Isle, out of the Gold Bracelet winner and Summer Cup-placed Fort Ember

Lot 46, a colt by Hawwaam out of the Grade 3 winner Neptune’s Rain

Lot 50, a son of One World out of the Champagne Stakes runner-up Ostinato

Trade begins at 12pm on Sunday.
