Champion sire’s fee rockets after nine individual G1 winners this year as Juddmonte announces 2023 stallion fees

GB: Frankel’s nomination fee for 2023 has been increased by 37.5% to £275,000 (from £200,000) as Juddmonte revealed fees for the forthcoming covering season for their five European stallions at Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket.

The legendary racehorse turned champion sire, a son of the late bloodstock legend Galileo, has been responsible for nine individual G1 winners to date in 2022, among them the Arc winner Alpinista and European Classic winners Westover, Nashwa and Homeless Songs, plus top two-year-old Chaldean, who won the Dewhurst.

“In the past two years he has sired 12 G1 winners of which five were Classic winners, and 29 Group winners in total. His progeny have continually broken new boundaries both on the track and in the sales ring including the winners of the Irish Derby, French Oaks, Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and Dewhurst Stakes in 2022.

“He is the sire of the four highest-priced yearlings at Tattersalls Book 1 headlined by the world’s highest-priced yearling sold in 2022 at 2.8m gns. His new fee reflects his standing as one of the world’s elite stallions.”

Kingman’s fee is down to £125,000 (from £150,000) for 2023. The Juddmonte statement added: “Kingman enhanced his position as one of Europe’s leading sires in 2022 by reaching 50 stakes winners faster than any other stallion in history, other than his own stablemate Frankel.

“This year he has sired 14 individual Group winners including the unbeaten G1 Fillies’ Mile winner Commissioning and the dual G1-winning Kinross, whilst the success of his two-year-olds such as Noble Style, Nostrum and Epictetus show strong Classic aspirations in 2023.

“The adjustment to his fee acknowledges the intense competition at this level in the marketplace and the need to be positioned competitively.”

Completing the Banstead Manor team are hardy annual Oasis Dream (£20,000), Bated Breath (£15,000) and Breeders’ Cup Mile winner Expert Eye (£7,500). His first crop of juveniles has featured 21 individual winners so far.
