France: The European Classic season moves to Paris on Sunday when Breeders’ Cup winner Modern Games makes his eagerly awaited seasonal debut in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas).

UPDATE: Watch Modern Games win French 2,000 Guineas

The son of Dubawi was a convincing winner of the Juvenile Turf at Del Mar in November under William Buick – albeit in controversial circumstances after he was declared a non-runner for betting purposes.

With Yibir in action at Belmont in the Man o’War Stakes on Saturday, Modern Games is one of two Godolphin Breeders’ Cup heroes in action this weekend as he bids to follow up the victory of Charlie Appleby-trained stablemate Coroebus two weeks ago in the Newmarket Guineas.

Having won the last three of six starts as a two-year-old, he is set to start favourite in Sunday’s Emirates-sponsored €600,000 Classic at ParisLongchamp, where rivals are headed by Jean-Claude Rouget’s ‘buzz’ horse Lassaut.

“Modern Games has done well from two to three and I can’t fault his preparation,” said Appleby, speaking on the Godolphin website.

“He has done everything that we have asked of him and we are looking forward to seeing him back in action. We are very happy with his draw in stall four and there should be no excuses.”

On the same card, George Boughey’s 1,000 Guineas winner Cachet heads the field for the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches ahead of leading domestic hopes Rosacea and Mqse de Sevigne plus the Aidan O’Brien-trained Toy.
