The winners keep on flowing in the new IRE Incentive Scheme

This victory of the Moyglare Stud filly Homeless Songs at Leopardstown on Thursday was the 36th in the new IRE Incentive Scheme

Horse Racing Ireland’s IRE Incentive Scheme has now awarded over 35 €10,000 Irish Sales vouchers. The 36th winner in the new scheme came in Thursday’s Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Leopardstown, won by the Dermot Weld-trained and Moyglare Stud-owned and -bred Homeless Songs.

Thirty-one individual owners have won a voucher so far, providing a healthy distribution of beneficiaries across sole owners, syndicates, owner-breeders, owner-trainers, etc. The first IRE Incentive voucher spend came at the Goffs Land Rover Sale 2021. With the Irish yearling sales on the horizon, it is hoped that voucher holders will be encouraged to reinvest in the quality Irish stock that has already brought them success.

The scheme awards an Irish sales voucher of €10,000 to owners of Irish-bred winners of selected races across the Irish flat and National Hunt programmes in 2021. The owners of each eligible winner – those carrying the (IRE) suffix and Foal Levy compliant – have until the end of the following year to spend their voucher on Irish-breds at Irish sales.

Irish Thoroughbred Marketing CEO Charles O’Neill said, “The IRE Incentive rewards and encourages investment in Irish bloodstock. Irish-breds continually prove their quality in the world’s most competitive racing nations. We are delighted to be able to draw the spotlight onto Irish Thoroughbreds and help promote investment in one of Ireland’s finest global exports. With the IRE Incentive Scheme, it pays to buy Irish.”
