Sponsorship brands step up as £2m Racing League teams start to take shape

Racing League, the innovative new $2 million team competition set to be a feature of the British flat season for six weeks from the end of July, has announced a raft of dynamic brands that will become principal partners of its first four teams

Championship Horse Racing – the team behind the Racing League – hopes the Racing League will become an integral part of the British summer sporting calendar.

The teams feature an impressive array of top trainers and jockeys who will be taking part, including world top 200 trainers Martyn Meade, Roger Varian, Roger Charlton, Richard Fahey and Breeders’ Cup winner James Fanshawe, and top 200 riders Hollie Doyle, Cieren Fallon, Jason Watson, Martin Dwyer, Paul Hanagan and James Doyle.

The sponsors include national radio station, talkSPORT, LADbible Group’s online betting community ODDSbible, the world’s leading social trading platform, eToro, and the world’s leading social media marketing agency, the Goat Agency.

Jeremy Wray, CEO of Racing League, said, “Partnering with talkSPORT, ODDSbible, eToro, and The Goat Agency epitomises what Racing League is all about. These partnerships demonstrate our bold intent to forge long-term relationships with the next generation of horseracing sponsors, which in turn will help Racing League engage with a new type of racing fan.

“They are brands who are positively disrupting their respective industries, which is what Racing League is aiming to accomplish with horseracing. We’re thrilled to have them on board, and look forward to working closely with them and connecting with their audiences.”

Competing for a total prize pot of over £2m, Racing League’s 12 teams – each consisting of 2-4 trainers working together, 3 jockeys, stable staff and a squad of 30 horses – will compete at six consecutive Thursday-evening race meetings, with the series opener set for Newcastle on July 29.

Team talkSPORT

talkSPORT and talkSPORT 2 will air all of Racing League’s 36 races live, amplifying the racing series to its broad sporting audience using its trademark light-hearted personality. Team Talksport will comprise Newmarket-based trainers Michael Bell, James Fanshawe, Ed Dunlop and Roger Varian, jockeys Hollie Doyle, Jack Mitchell and Cieren Fallon, and will be co-managed by talkSPORT broadcasters Alan Brazil and Rupert Bell.

This is a very exciting initiative for the sport and I am delighted to be managing Team talkSPORT. As manager, it will be fun, particularly trying to tell my brother, Michael, what to do, although I’m not sure he will listen to me! talkSPORT is determined to ensure this first season is a great success, so let’s hope Team talkSPORT delivers the goods!”

Team ODDSbible

With over half of all 18-24-year-olds in the UK exposed to a piece of LADbible content every single day, Racing League will engage with a digitally-savvy and exciting younger audience. As a leading investment platform with over 20 million registered users worldwide, we believe sponsorships are a powerful tool for delivering financial education and opening up the global markets to everyone. We are excited to be partnering with Racing League and see this as an opportunity to reach a new community and get more people interested in investing.”
