Fast-rising star jockey Bryony Frost has been announced as a group-wide ambassador for Britain's Jockey Club Racecourses. Bryony has lit up the country's racecourses this season with a string of brilliant rides, her first Grade 1 victory and a winning smile to match, helping her to become one of the most popular faces in the sport.
The partnership is the first of its kind for Jockey Club Racecourses, which stages the likes of the Cheltenham Festival, the Randox Health Grand National, the QIPCO Guineas Festival and the Investec Derby Festival, and will now support Frost's career.
As an ambassador, Frost will work with Jockey Club Racecourses to promote British racing, including through social media channels, media work, personal appearances and a regular blog. She will also wear Jockey Club Racecourses-branded apparel when attending racedays and her new Range Rover Velar now bears the message ‘Bryony Frost, supported by Jockey Club Racecourses’.
The announcement was made yesterday at Exeter Racecourse, one of the Jockey Club’s 15 racecourses and Bryony’s local track. The others in the group are: Aintree, Carlisle, Cheltenham, Epsom Downs, Haydock Park, Huntingdon, Kempton Park, Market Rasen, Newmarket July Course, Newmarket Rowley Mile, Nottingham, Sandown Park, Warwick and Wincanton.
With the Jockey Club governed by Royal Charter, all profits its racecourse arm generates are invested back into British racing.
This has been a landmark season for Frost, daugher of 1989 Grand National-winning rider Jimmy Frost. She landed her first Grade 1 on Black Corton for trainer Paul Nicholls in the Kauto Star Novices' Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and has been a regular winner on big televised races through the winter.
The 22-year-old said: “This season has already been an amazing one for me and to now be supported by Jockey Club Racecourses is really cool.
Passionate about racing’s future
“As everyone knows, I love talking about our sport and trying to get new people interested in it. Horses and racing have been the biggest part of my life since I was tiny and I know that the future of racing is just as important to Jockey Club Racecourses as it is to me and my family. That's why I'm delighted to be working with them and I can't wait to get started.”
Paul Fisher, Chief Executive of Jockey Club Racecourses, said: “We're thrilled to be welcoming Bryony to the Jockey Club family and very much looking forward to supporting her.
“We've never had a group-wide Jockey Club Racecourses ambassador before. But this season it's been impossible to escape Bryony's enthusiasm for our sport and, knowing that she is just as passionate about the future of racing as we are, this feels like a really natural partnership.
“It's really exciting to think we'll be working with Bryony to introduce new people to racing while also helping those who already enjoy the sport understand it better and become even more engaged.”
